ReplyDeleteEssentially what you are doing is multiplying a given number by 9. Adding the three just guarantees a two digit answer, in case your original number was 1. All numbers multiplied by 9 have results that equal 9 when added. 2×9 is 18 three is 27, 36, 45. 54, 63, 72, 81.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite movie of all times is Blazing Saddles, for the record...
Saw this before...of course, it's no. 9....have not tried to figure it out, but very curious.
ReplyDeleteI TRIED THIS 3 TIMES, DIFFERENT NUMBERS, CAME UP THE SAME WAY EACH TIME......................NO. 9, HIS FAREWELL SPEECH. HOW CAN THIS HAPPEN?
ReplyDeleteHAVE TO SEND THIS ON.............THANKS, BUT I FEEL SPOOKED!!
Funny......it always adds up to # 9.
ReplyDeleteThat person must like numbers. I can use him for my stock selections. BO movie comes in all the time, no matter what numbers are picked. Quiz very good.
ReplyDeleteThat will be my favorite movie when it comes out. It's a simple trick. No matter what number you start with, the answer will always be #9.
ReplyDeleteDoug - I feel I am missing something, but here we go. The quiz could be about anything, and the answer will always be the ninth on the list. Eliminating the window dressing, the math within the quiz works out to 9x+9, or 9(x+1). The answer has to be a multiple of 9. As you have defined the the set of possible numbers we can select as being 1 through 9, those numbers will work out to possible solutions in our equation with values of 18, 27, 36, 45, 54, 63, 72, 81, and 90. Our possible solutions first digit runs from 1 up to 9, and our possible solutions second digit rises from 0 to 8. However, all multiples of 9 will not add up to 9. The set was defined, however. Selecting numbers from 10 and above will not add up to 9 or be a two digit number. Zero would also give us The Obama Farewell Speech, but would not give you a two digit number total as stated in the problem.
ReplyDeleteWhatever I'm getting or missing, it was fun.
Take care.
The Obama farewell Speech! Funny!
