About Me

In writing the "About Me" portion of this blog I thought about the purpose of the blog - namely, preventing the growth of Socialism & stopping the Death Of Democracy in the American Republic & returning her to the "liberty to abundance" stage of our history. One word descriptions of people's philosophies or purposes are quite often inadequate. I feel that I am "liberal" meaning that I am broad minded, independent, generous, hospitable, & magnanimous. Under these terms "liberal" is a perfectly good word that has been corrupted over the years to mean the person is a left-winger or as Mark Levin more accurately wrote in his book "Liberty & Tyranny" a "statist" - someone looking for government or state control of society. I am certainly not that & have dedicated the blog to fighting this. I believe that I find what I am when I consider whether or not I am a "conservative" & specifically when I ask what is it that I am trying to conserve? It is the libertarian principles that America was founded upon & originally followed. That is the Return To Excellence that this blog is named for & is all about.

Thanks to a long time subscriber for sending the latest of the ever popular quizzes that readers almost clamor for.  This quiz presents thirteen questions & follows up with the answers & your results compared to others of your gender, age, & education for each of the questions.  I will post results you present as appropriate.

    Got 10 of 13 correct which according to the poll results is 63% better than most respondents in my age bracket.

    Sidenote: Since science was always a weak link for me I did better than I expected.

    I answered 12 of 13 questions correctly. I thought an atom was smaller than an electron.

    12 of 13 in the 15% percentile...(YAWN... just average) I thought the 12th. question was a trick question....

      Very observant comment about a trick question - question 12 asks what gas does most scientists believe causes the earth's atmosphere to rise in temperature? It is debatable whether or not most scientists believe in global warming @ all - other than caused by the sun.

    I got 12 right. Messed up on the sun screen one. I picked infrared, not ultraviolet.

    I amazed myself and got 11 right! You know, I never really enjoyed or did well in any science classes. But what I have learned by reading the WSJ over the years helped me in many of my answers. TLG

    Got all correct thanks to having covered most of these questions helping my daughter last spring finishing 8th grade in private school. Bring on school vouchers!

    Doug - Finally got around to taking this Quiz. Got 12 of the 13 correct and scored 85% better than the general public. The only question I got wrong was the only question I wasn't sure of and guessed at (It was the next to last question on which was the most abundant element in the atmosphere. I knew it wasn't oxygen so I took a guess from the other 3 and chose hydrogen). All the rest of the them were common knowledge to me. Looking forward to any new quizzes you send.
