Our SC businessman celebrated Earth Day 2012 by sending us the message below on the anti-global warming topic he specializes in. Long time readers of these messages may remember
Earth Day Message From 1975 - It Is Going To Be A Cold World. This posting was inspired by a message from our SC businessman on April 22, 2007. I placed that message in the "Classics" section of Return To Excellence. In the 2007 posting I asked some common sense questions that I would hope any worrier about our climate changes would be sure their champion of global warming can answer before they followed this line of thinking too far. I also pointed out in the posting that the polar ice caps were melting. Understanding why these particular ice caps were melting I believe is even more important than understanding the volcanic data shown below.
---Climate Change Message From SC Businessman---
Many of you know I am a bit zealous about my anti-global warming stance. The reason is that I was a believer in the global cooling while at college in the early '70s. When 'they' said we needed to worry about global warming (for all the same reasons we had to worry about global cooling) I asked some questions. I was told to sit down and shut up. Since then I have been a huge skeptic. Validations of my skepticism come frequently, but are rarely covered by the media. It does not fit their agenda.
Are global temperatures rising? Yes, but let's put it in perspective.
On April 28, 1975, Newsweek published an article declaring scientists were in full agreement global temperatures were dropping to the extent world food supplies were threatened.
Many believed a new ice age was upon us, with disastrous consequences, and berated the government for doing nothing about it. Here is the full text of the Newsweek article:
Another perspective to be seen is by looking at a graph of global temperatures over time. Proponents of global warming like to take small slices of such graphs,
representing a short period of time, to prove their point. Here is the long view:
