As a follow up to the recent posting that included the video of the hapless students & what they face today & employers face tomorrow a long time subscriber to ReturnToExcellence.net sent this more substantive link of a test prepared by Intercollegiate Studies Institute (ISI) – one of the many higher education firms that Carol & I work with who educate for liberty.
Our subscriber says that the ISI website reports that the average score on the test is 49% & that college educators average 55% & that he "surprised the hell out of myself with an 88%." When I consider his background & all of the messages he & I have exchanged over the years it is not surprising to me @ all. Please let me know how you do.
Hey, I got 82%! wow! I'm happy.
ReplyDelete91%
ReplyDeleteI scored over 85%. By the way Mr. Hartlove, "MAKE NO SMALL PLANS FOR THEY HAVE NO MAGIC TO STIR MEN'S SOULS." James J. Hill, President, Great Northern Railway. Stay on message!
ReplyDeleteHi Doug: I scored 59% - so now you know I am not equipped to live here!! Will pass this test on to my spouse and see if he does better.
ReplyDeletevery interesting test. Got 83.84% correct. 5 wrong answers, 2 of which I should have known. The other 3 were wrong guesses.
ReplyDeleteI got an 88% as well. A couple of stupid mistakes, a couple I had no clue. Going to send it around to my peeps. Sorry I missed you the other day! Don't be a stranger!
ReplyDeleteHey, I got 82%! wow! I'm happy.

ReplyDeleteHi Doug...I got a 90.91...(3 wrong) and I should have known better on one of them ....anyway, I'm glad my brain is still somewhat working!
ReplyDeleteI got an 84.85% (28 of 33). Not so good I'm afraid....
ReplyDeleteDoug, 26/33 = 78.79 %
ReplyDelete97%. I missed the one on Susan B. Anthony
ReplyDelete69% Ouch! Take care and keep up your good work
ReplyDeleteWell....I got a 69...my 90 year old friend got a 72, and my son-in-law, who has a doctorate in political science, got a 97.....he missed the last one.
ReplyDeleteThanks Doug! I passed it on!
ReplyDeleteI only had one year of college, so I'm a bit surprised. My comments to my distribution I sent this to are as follows:
I just took the test and scored 75.76% (25 out of 33). I think it is a pretty sad state of affairs that our College Educators averaged 55%. Trying to think of why such a difference, I conclude that there is some truth to the old saying that with age comes wisdom! Having had 60 years to gain my knowledge (and I never stop learning) and I'm sure I'm much older than the average age of college educators, could explain the difference in scores to some degree. Also, the Test Questions were mainly Political and Historical. Much of this is NOT being taught today! Why, I don't know!
Take the test! It's pretty interesting! When finished, it provides the answers to the questions you got wrong! It's worth five minutes of your time!
I watch a lot of news and the new leaders will have to learn how to negate the talking points of the left - these people care nothing of what was on the test. I'm surprised of my measly score that I knew any of it not studying any of it for so long. That's beside the point - mentioning many of the items in conversion to lefties means nothing to them. I am trying to hit home runs with the next one in debating the principles they have none of. I use your history and comments from time to time, many thanks.
ReplyDeleteHello Doug and Carol
ReplyDeleteI just took the ISI test.....got three wrong.
It would have been two wrong but I answered the question about fiscal policy combination that the federal government followed to stimulate economic activity when the economy is in a severe recession.
Silly me.....I answered the way our current Occupant of the White House (better known as The Organizer in Chief ) wants to restore our economic prosperity ....increasing both taxes and spending. After all, doesn't he keep telling us we are on the road to recovery?.....lol
I scored 26/33 but I challenge ISI on the gov. debt = zero not being correct. I surely do not get my fair share of tax dollars compared to the takers in this society!
