Although admittedly early, last weekend Indiana Congressman Mike Pence won the "Values Voter" 2012 GOP presidential nomination straw poll conducted by the Family Research Council Action with 24% of the vote. Governor Mike Huckabee finished second with 22%.
The exciting thing about this result is that both front runners heavily support the FairTax. Governor Huckabee ran for president in 2008 & his only comment on his issues paper re taxes was the unambiguous four word statement - "I support the FairTax."
Congressman Pence was first elected to the House in 2000 & has been a co-sponsor of HR 25 for several years - he is graded "A" by the National Taxpayers Union. Click here to hear Mr. Pence explain some of the liberty principles why he supports the FairTax.
Those of us who constantly, consistently, & most important accurately spread the FairTax word across America are doing the ground work so that when the right national figure comes along we will have a base of support in place. Mike Huckabee finished in the final four in 2008 - just imagine the difference for our country in his pursuing the FairTax the past 20 months had he won the presidency compared to what has happened.
Couple Messrs. Pence or Huckabee in the presidency with the following victorious Senate Tea Party candidates who will caucus with Jim DeMint (SC) & Tom Coburn (OK) instead of the Republican Party establishment & you have reason to get excited again.
Rand Paul - KY
Joe Miller - AK
Ron Johnson - WI
Sharron Angle - NV
Mike Lee - UT
Marco Rubio - FL
Pat Toomey - PA
Ken Buck - CO
Christine O'Donnell - DE
Linda McMahon - CT
Carly Fiorina - CA
And please do not forget our two NJ FairTax congressional candidates - Anna Little & Mike Agosta. Also Rob Woodall is running to replace the retiring John Linder & will become the FairTax lead sponsor if elected.
With all of the people mentioned above in office, America as we knew her when we were growing up, has a chance to return against all the odds one more time.
